The Top 6 Underwater Restaurants in the World

Underwater restaurants combine exceptional dining with breathtaking marine views, offering an unparalleled sensory experience. Here are six of the best underwater dining destinations globally, along with insights into their remarkable design features:

Interesting Designs Of Undersea Restaurants:

1. Ithaa Undersea Restaurant – Maldives

The world’s largest undersea restaurant crafted entirely from glass blends culinary artistry with an awe-inspiring setting. Nestled 19 feet (5.8 meters) below the ocean’s surface, this intimate dining space features just 10 exclusive tables, creating a serene and immersive experience. The menu celebrates the ocean’s bounty, spotlighting locally sourced seafood in innovative dishes. Guests can savor flavors like delicate fish paired with candied seaweed and ocean foam, each plate reflecting the vibrant marine life visible around them. It’s a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

As the world’s first fully submerged restaurant, Ithaa features a panoramic acrylic dome, offering a 360-degree view of vibrant coral reefs. Its seamless design makes it a benchmark in bar and restaurant design for luxury hospitality projects.

2. Subsix – Maldives

Located six meters below sea level, Subsix is both a restaurant and a nightclub. Its interior design is inspired by the ocean, featuring wave-like chandeliers and coral-style seating, a true masterpiece in entertainment and public space design. Go big with lobster tail or wagyu sirloin menu options. But what really attracts diners to the remote, underwater bistro is its ability to transform into a full-fledged nightclub with champagne breakfasts and an adults-only glow party that will have you swaying like the seaweed that surrounds you.

3. Under – Norway

Looking like a stunning shipwreck, the world’s largest underwater restaurant made a splash with its eye-catching architecture. Imagine a sleek shipping-container type of rectangle that’s tilted into the ocean and half sunken under the water.

Europe’s first underwater restaurant, Under, is a minimalist marvel. Half-sunken into the North Sea, it blends with its environment and also serves as a marine research center. This sustainable structure embodies excellence in concept design for interiors.

4.Restaurante Submarino

Translated as “submarine restaurant” in English, Restaurante Submarino is located in Valencia’s world-famous oceanarium, which is one of the largest aquariums in Europe. The restaurant offers Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine like paella, crispy suckling pig, monkfish carpaccio, and prawn aguachile. Aside from schools of metallic fish, the space boasts an impressive jellyfish-inspired light fixture that anchors elegant, modern decor. Ursula would give the space eight enthusiastic tentacles up.

5. SEA – Anantara Kihavah

in Dubai has added its star chef to the restaurant’s name, and is now called Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara. Four-star seafood may be second to the view, however.

6. Ossiano – Dubai

At Michelin-rated Ossiano, each course is fittingly called a “wave,” and the progressive meal is full of creativity, so don’t be surprised if food is served in pointy sea urchin shells or wisps of smoke rise from your dish. The world-class fare is inspired by the underwater shapes and colors that encase it, and many of the dishes come from sea foraging.

Situated in Atlantis The Palm, Ossiano surrounds diners with a massive aquarium, creating a dramatic dining atmosphere. The venue showcases innovative branding in interior design, blending luxury with oceanic themes.
